About This Spot
Stepping into Chef House Halal Food feels a little like unfolding a quiet, flavorful story within the heart of Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling Quận 1. Tucked just off the main drag of Phạm Ngũ Lão, this family restaurant offers a gentle retreat from the city’s lively pulse, where the pace softens and the busy streets feel momentarily distant.
The atmosphere here carries an inviting warmth that’s both familiar and fresh—part neighborhood nook, part welcoming kitchen where aromas linger like cherished memories in the making. The modest interior, with its attentive and kindly staff, invites you to slow down, take a breath, and settle into a meal that feels thoughtfully prepared and generously portioned.
At Chef House, the menu unfolds as a subtle exploration across regional halal cuisines, drawing you into shared moments around dishes that balance comfort and discovery. Each plate seems to whisper stories of home—whether it’s through the gentle richness of a slow-simmered broth, the delicate snap of fresh vegetables, or the comforting spice notes that bring a dish alive without overwhelming. The drinks, like a cooling mango lassi, offer a soft contrast that soothes and refreshes.
Many who find their way here return not just for the food but for the sense of recalibration—a reminder that amidst travel and new places, there’s a simple joy in finding something genuine and warmly familiar. The kind of spot where a day’s wander might conclude with a quiet satisfaction, a shared smile, and the promise to come back again.

We’ve eaten here twice since arriving in Ho Chi Minh. So far we’ve tried six different dishes and none of them disappointed. The vegetables were fresh and portion sizes are perfect. This is definitely one of the early favorites on our places to eat.

Excellent tasty Food. I would highly recommend this place. It's a bit inside from the road, but worthy of finding it. We ordered Chicken Kadai, Keema Aloo, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Roti, Chapati, everything was excellent tasty! Authentic Indian taste. I would highly recommend.

You know how sometimes when you travel and it hasn't quite sunk in yet that you're in another country? Landed in HCMC three hours ago, and just had my first meal here which helped recalibrate that I am, indeed, in Vietnam. Authentic VN food available alongside other regional halal cuisines. Quaint little place with kindly staff. Definitely coming back to try other stuff on the menu.

Having just come from Quy Ngon, was so excited to find halal food here. Couldn’t wait to try it out. The menu is very extensive and although it’s good to have the variety, I find this slightly apprehensive. Better to cook one cruise well and not out all the verity and not achieve brilliance. The pad Thai was caked with peanuts and the shrimps were way too small or my eyes deceived my off the photo. I would have preferred more greens within it. The taste was not amazing and I guess we’ve been spoiled by travelling the whole length of Vietnam trying the food in different cities. The noodles were dry. My Pak Choi was well seasoned but I felt the mushrooms were not freshly cooked as they were spongy. I love the combination of my two favourite vegetables together and this may have been my downfall due to the excitement. Staff were courteous and the food portions were generous. I love the fact they have gives these halal options to travellers and the photos on the menu are a massive bonus. Place is generally clean Hanoi, Da Nang, Quy Nhon and now HCMC.. this is the first time I’ve seen tax added to the final bill. Don’t expect it. But I guess this must be the norm here. Still to find out.
